Caipiroska
Caipirinha is a classic Brazilian cocktail made with Cachaça, – a liquor made of fermented sugarcane juice, – muddled lime and sugar, and poured over ice. It`s a very versatile drink that can be made with any of your favourite fruits from watermelon to kiwi, strawberries and essentially any other fruit you can think about. The fruit juice is what is going to flavour your drink, so just make sure there is enough liquid in the cup once it`s muddled with the sugar. It`s cousin, the Caipiroska, is made the exact same way, but with vodka instead of the Brazilian liquor. Our signature recipe gets a bit more flavour and colour by mixing both lemon and lime, and adding a dash of club soda! If you don`t like lime and you want to enjoy the incredible flavour of Ontario strawberries this Summer, make this recipe with 4-5 quartered strawberries, you will not be disappointed!
In Ontario, I have found Cachaça (Pitu and Leblon) in a couple LCBOs, but it is very overpriced and rare. If you want to make a traditional caipirinha and you are able to find Cachaça, feel free to sub the vodka in the recipe and make it the traditional way.
Caipiroska
Servings: 1
Time: 2 minutes

½ Lemon
1 Tbsp Sugar
1 ½ oz Good Vodka
Ice
Soda Water
1+ Tbsp Salt, for the rim
1+ Tbsp Sugar, for the rim
Step-by-Step
1. Wet the rim of a clean small glass with a wedge of lemon (keep the lemon to be used in the drink). Dip the rim in a mix of the salt and sugar and make sure it`s fully coated.
2. Add small wedges of lemon and lime to your cup and 1 tbsp of sugar. Use a muddler to get all of the juice out of the citrus and mix with the sugar.
