Chili Tequila Sunrise

IMG_2963.jpg

It`s the last Friday of May, it`s time to sit outside and watch the sunset while enjoying a sunrise. For a little bit of a twist, our cocktail got a dash of heat with a chili flavouring the drink. The chili itself doesn`t have to be too spicy, but also keep in mind that it won`t make the drink “spicy” it will just infuse it with some pepper flavours. If you`d like more heat, slice the chili into the drink or add cayenne to it!

Just to clarify the measurements: 1 oz is 30 mL, which is also a regular-sized shot!

Chili Tequila Sunrise

Servings: 1

Time: 3 minutes

Ingredients

2 oz Tequila

½ oz Triple Sec

½ oz Grenadine

1 oz Orange Juice

½ oz Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice

2+ tsp Salt

1+ tsp Cayenne Powder

1 Long Hot Pepper

Ice

Step-by-Step

1.       Mix the cayenne and the salt in a bowl that is slightly wider than the rim of your glass of choice. Use a slice of lemon to wet the rim of the glass and dip the rim into the cayenne and salt mixture, making sure it`s coated all the way around.

2.       Add the Grenadine to the glass and fill it with ice.

3.       In a cocktail shaker with 2 ice cubes, mix tequila, triple sec, O.J. and Lemon Juice. If you want to make the drink spicier, a pinch of cayenne will go a long way in this mix. Shake vigorously for 10 seconds.

4.       Slowly pour the drink over ice, making sure to not let it fall on the rim.

5.       In the long way, slice the chili in half almost all the way to the top, making sure not to cut it through. Use it to garnish and stir your cocktail and enjoy!
